Adult females can lay up to 30,000 eggs annually and Squawfish will eat all other smolts. Let's see a Rainbow do that, Pussy.

Blue Ribbon NPM Fishing in Your Backyard
It's time to quit my day job
Jared on the Tucannon
I had the great pleasure this fall to spend a morning fishing with two of the finest men i have ever met. We adventured out to a quiet little spot and spent the most of the morning enjoying the fishing and good company. Nothing is better then fishing with people who love the sport as much as you do. A few pictures tell the story of the creek and the fishing.
For most of the day we did not see the mighty squaw so we had to settle for other not so worthy fish sipping dry flies. Needless to say I miss days like this.

What kind of fish is this?
My husband
I just love watching my husband catch NPMs. It just makes my heart go pitter pat. It is even better when he brings them home for me to cook using my secret recipe (it is a family secret). I feel that my support of my husband's dreams has really strenghtened our relationship.
Recent Outing
Here is Kevin with a fine Palouse River Squaw. He was taken on a size 12 phaesant tail nymph in our favorite holding pool just above the trussel.
As you can see from the raw gurth of this fish, almost needed 2 hands, there is active acquatic insects for year round feeding. When I'm not frantically trying to match the hatch of local bees, house-flys, and grasshoppers I have found an all purpose fly to fall back on. Depending on the time of year (spring and early summer guides are booked far in advance...plan ahead) I will use green, although I have been known to use pink marshmallows.
Lets Get Started
The reason I love to Fish for the mighty squaw is because it is a beautiful fish that puts up some of best fights I have ever had on my rod. I have found that a EHC size 16 or a PTN any size works really well. Also on bad days I use egg patterns any size. These fish really can fight.
